Operation Mind Kontrol:

This cover was created for my client Cyta Zoan for his album Operation Mind Kontrol, published both on SoundCloud and Spotify. The purpose of this album was to satirize and critique hip-hop, the world, and himself. The album was also for Halloween, embodying slow, creepy, distorted, and low-tone sounds. In line with the name of the album, many songs on the record touch on themes of mind control and deeper more esoteric ideas relating to society and himself.

  • For the title and body type I used LiebeDoris. The shape and texture were very unstable, distressed, and grungy; creating a feeling of uncertainty and decay, which was in line with the album, forming a sense of chaos and anxiety across the cover.

  • I used purple and green to invoke a feeling of corruption and poison. I used deeper more vibrant tones of these colors to communicate the strength/intensity resembled with the colors, these ideas were bold and in your face, they weren’t subtle.

  • To communicate these ideas I used clear symbolism with the beat up, old, distressed TV and the spiral on the screen. I also added cracks, splinters, noise, and webs to the TV to further this idea. I also added blood on this paper taped on the TV because blood symbolizes death and violence, and also evokes fear, in line with the album.

In the background I created a hazy/glassy look to make the background practically unrecognizable and foggy, which resembles the idea of losing your clarity and sound mind, it also shows that the viewer is too absorbed with the mind control program that they fail to see the rest of the world.
